Overview

Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, Amboseli National Park is one of the elite parks in Kenya. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust” and is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close.

On a clear day, you will have a beautiful view of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. The land on which the park lies is a plain, flat land with numerous swamps that elephants love to go and cool off. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats, ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands.

Amboseli National Park is well-known for its herds of big tusked elephants, including various wildlife such as the leopard, cheetah, lion, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, hyrax, dik-dik, lesser kudu and 600 species of birds.
