Overview

Uganda is a verdant green and beautiful country located in the East Africa region. This landlocked country is bordered by five countries: Kenya to the east, South Sudan to the north, the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west, Rwanda to the south-west and Tanzania to the south.

The official name of the country is the Republic of Uganda, with its capital city being Kampala.

The country is heavily influenced by Lake Victoria, the second largest inland freshwater lake in the world, which has many islands. The longest river in the world, the mighty River Nile, starts its journey to the Mediterranean Sea from Lake Victoria and is joined by many Nile tributaries while traversing Uganda.

Most of the important cities and towns of Uganda are located in the south, near the lake, including the capital city Kampala and the nearby airport city of Entebbe.
