Start your journey with Murchison Falls National Park, including a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and the magnificent Murchison waterfall.

Continue to the home of chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park for the rare tree-climbing lions, and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where the endangered species of mountain gorillas live.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport - Kampala

Meet and greet services at the airport and later transferred to the hotel. Check-in, freshen up and relax.

Dinner & Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 2: Kampala - Murchison Falls

After breakfast, begin the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Project. A visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking is a must.

Have lunch and proceed to Murchison Falls. The park is home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, chimpanzees, Uganda kobs, hippos among others. Return to the lodge, freshen up and enjoy the facilities.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park

Early morning coffee and later cross the Nile by ferry to the northern bank of the park. If lucky, you may spot the Rothschild's giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reedbuck, hyena and leopard.

Return to the hotel for breakfast. Spend some time by the poolside.

After lunch, embark on a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls, stopping just tens of meters from the Devil's Cauldron. En route, marvel at the hippos and crocodiles.

This is also a zone for many bird species such as the Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.

Thereafter, proceed to the top of the falls, where the world's longest river explodes through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool. Afterwards, return to the lodge and freshen up.

Day 4: Murchison Falls - Kibale National Park

After breakfast, drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through the verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads along the Albertine Rift escarpments. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon.

Note: Flights are available from Murchison to Kasese. The nearest airstrip to Kibale is just 2 hours away.

Day 5: Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking - Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early morning chimpanzee trek. Kibale is the best reserve in Africa to view chimps, a thick jungle with a towering canopy.

After lunch, drive south into Queen Elizabeth National Park for sightseeing and game viewing. Return to the lodge, freshen up and have dinner.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Begin your day with a cup of coffee. Early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile. After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch.

After lunch, enjoy a two-hour boat trip along the famous Kazinga Channel. This is a great opportunity to view hippos, buffalo, kobs, elephants and warthogs. Thereafter, return to the lodge and freshen up.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park - Bwindi Forest

Have breakfast and embark on the chimpanzee walk along Kyambura Gorge. Afterwards, proceed to Ishasha.

Drive along the deep and wide dry craters that are occupied by savanna grassland and acacia. Embark on the western Rift Valley escarpment and the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha sector, in search of tree-climbing lions before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The journey takes about 4 hours. Arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening. The park is home to the rare mountain gorillas as well as the blue and red-tailed monkeys. The forest is lush and green with streams running through it.

Afterwards, return to the lodge. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing.

Day 8: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking & Community / Village Visit

After breakfast, set off early with your guides to track the gorillas. Ensure to carry jungle boots and rain jackets.

Spend some time watching the gorillas as they go about their activities. Each gorilla safari encounter is different and has its own rewards. You are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting, as the youngsters frolic swinging from vines in a delightful display.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a magnificent green swathe of dense rainforest, so ancient that it survived the last ice age. A recently proclaimed World Heritage Site, it is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth.

The flora sustains half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. There is also a substantial chimpanzee population, and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together.

Spend the afternoon on a community walk. Return to the camp in the evening.

Day 9: Bwindi - Kampala / Entebbe

After breakfast, drive back to Kampala. Visit Igongo Cultural Village to learn about the Bahima and Ankole tribe. Later, proceed to the Equator crossing and have lunch. Embark on the journey to Entebbe for your onward flight back home.

Flight from Bwindi - Entebbe: Morning relaxation in Bwindi National Park. You can either choose the morning flight or afternoon flight to Entebbe.
